Picture frame in dark wood

A dark wooden frame, perhaps in walnut or oiled oak, could be a good compromise between a black frame and an oak frame. If you also already have elements of dark wood in the other interior, perhaps if you have a classic, retro or marine interior style, the darker wooden frame could be a good complement.

A dark wooden frame is a nice detail in an interior with darker color tones. For instance if you have black furniture, maybe a leather sofa, or if you have similar dark types of wood in the furniture. Bringing wood into the interior creates a connection to nature and can be soothing in otherwise stressful urban environments. The dark wood can also feel luxurious and although the frame may just be dark oiled oak it can remind you of the more expensive mahogany wood.

Interior styles with traditionally darker colors and dark types of wood are very suitable for also having dark wooden frames. The darker wooden frame can create a slightly softer impression than what a black frame does, and if it is matched with dark wood in the furniture, the room can become very uniform. Several interior styles, such as industrial, rustic, some Mediterranean-inspired rural, bohemian, marine, and vintage often fit well with dark wooden frames as these interior styles may be a little darker in color or have elements of dark wood as minor details on some furniture. For example, if a sofa has dark wooden legs, it can be very nice with dark wooden frames to match.
